Black Shining Void

Along a path I’ve walked many times, I stumbled
From the ground, a few yards past, I saw the entrance
Black, the void twinkling within as if this dark abyss were the night sky
Blood, around the stones.
I ran… gathered my blades, lit a torch
I returned, and entered the void
What hath the ghouls done in this place?
In the water I don’t recognize my face
I made a mistake
I thought it wouldn’t break
The bridge of the cave collapsed
And I have no way back
Panic attacks
Oh what I would do to go back
Murky slime in cavernous halls
Like sin reflecting in dim lighting
Faces smeared against the wall
And the corpses lay empty and rotting

Pulling me every directions
My limbs faileth
Ghosts or demons I knoweth not
But they do not cease
I thought I’d have known the way
The north stands clear in mine eye
But here, the senses die, and are born anew
And I do not remember even myself
How far hath these parables brought me.
How near I am to thee
But a serpent follows, and springs for my neck
As I crawl through the eye of the needle..
Ghosts or demons? I knoweth not
Where is the line between them?
Angels or gods? I knoweth not
Do I see a line between them?
Only Adonai..
If only I’d known the entrance was beneath my feet..
One maze leads to another
Visions of God or ritual hallucinations
I make my way forward again
Burning bush and the 7 lamp stands
The room fills with glory
There is someone else here
I stand and the room stretches
The rocks begin to melt
The darkness fills with fuzz
And lightning comes about

Gazing upon the infernal fires
And that is when they appeared to me
Those beings.. who were like flaming fire yet appeared as men
They spoke of the way out
Yet their eyes were hollow
Lifeless, as if gouged
Black, as the void around them
I prayed silently as they made direction with their long jagged hands
And made remembrance of which way they guided
That I might turn the other way
Neither above nor below, shall I bend my life to the wretched

We watched ye try, drag the bodies to shore, to the light
Vanity of vanities, leave them.
I remember the beasts, with many heads
Cut them off
I gather knives upon me
Regain composure
Cave paintings, memories
Unless an arrow, futile
The markings appear decayed
My fear somewhat delayed
What doth I cleave to above?
What hath become of my love?
What if I never left?
I hath gone, deeper..
I was, lost..
I went mad..
But I awoke
I regained composure..
mine body
Is still in this cave
But my spirit passes through the walls

I hadn’t thought there would be remnants of life here
This machinery, this architecture
In this place the carvings appear living
Swaying in the mist and smoke, but ever gazing forth in watch
Tongues of the ancients painted
I recognize a past life
These beings on the walls, they spoke of all things but mostly of those things torturous and vile- or so my mind tricked me…
I sought to continue on my way, but I heard like an echo, a voice taunting:
Mine wretched existence ought to be burrowed this deep and forgotten, my sins mounting upon my mind, ought I not throw myself down this chasm? Pierce the air with the last cry of my breath and become one with whatever lurks beneath?
The stench of burning grew
I saw a second light inside the flames
Growing brighter
A holy one appeared to me
In the fire
He led me up another way
Climbing higher
I touched the sun again
Thy grace from heaven was sent
No man ought suffer this again
I found that stone
And rolled it over the entrance
