XX: The Sky Grew Black

1.
I’ll tell you all what I saw The heavens stretched open And that being with rings, wings, wheels spinning within itself, covered in eyes Descending slowly with the glow of the heavens It stood and watched as we scrambled to see This was the first dream The sky grew black And the storms grew strong There were lights in the sky And rumblings along the earth Strange clouds seemed to descend And the ground bent upwards to meet them We were in shock, the firmament curving downwards The waters pooling above as if to give way any moment The lights dispersed and the clouds dissipated as smoke This was the second dream We looked through the glass out at the waters, At the peak of the mountain and yet the waters had reached us As we slept the firmament broke But we awoke to that shattering shriek We believed in fables Until the waters reached us This was the third dream This room, wide open, with a furnace and darkness No smoke seemed to emanate But the glow burned for all eternity I walked along it’s edge and the floor was laced in traps I remember This was the fourth dream
